Editorial Policy

Our guides are written to be accurate, practical and clearly sourced. We cite reputable sources, avoid unsupported claims, and correct errors when we find them.

How do we research and write?

Every article starts from a real owner question. We answer it directly, then explain the reasoning and support key factual claims with reputable sources, such as veterinary associations, universities and peer-reviewed research. The sources are listed at the bottom of each page so you can check them yourself.

Our articles are drafted with the help of AI writing tools and are checked against the sources they cite before publication. We say this openly because you should know how the content is made. AI tools never replace the cited sources, and we do not publish claims we cannot support.

What do we not do?

We do not claim veterinary review, invent author credentials, or publish made-up testimonials, ratings or statistics. We do not accept payment to change what a guide says.

How do we handle health topics?

We provide general information and note when a problem needs a vet. We do not give diagnoses or dosage instructions.

Product guides explain how to choose, not which brand is best, and we do not claim to have tested products. Links to retailers may be affiliate links. See the affiliate disclosure.

How do we update and correct content?

Pages show an "Updated" date. When we find a factual error or when guidance changes, we revise the page. To report a mistake, use the contact page.

Fact-checking

Breed, health and nutrition claims are checked against the sources named on the page, and we use cautious wording where the evidence is limited, for example "reported" or "often".
